MY JOURNEY TOWARDS THE TOKYO OLYMPICS
PAU WORLD CUP
June 2020
This World Cup in Pau, France will be my last race prior to the Olympics. This is important to me to finalise my race routine and test the mental state before the Games.
TOKYO TRAINING CAMPS
April, May, June
Over these three months I have the opportunity to travel to Tokyo and train on the olympic course for 10-14 days at a time. In a sport where maximum familiarity with a course is a definite advantage I want to be able to seize this time on the water.
2020 AUSTRALIAN OPEN
9th February - 3rd March
I travelled to Australia for an intense 3 week training camp based in Penrith on the Sydney 2000 Olympic Course. While here I competed in the Australian Open qualifying for the semifinal and finishing in 22nd place. This concluded the Oceania Series.
2020 OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS
27 January - 3rd February
A hotly contested race featuring a large contingent from Australia plus athletes from France, Slovakia, America, Netherlands, Andorra and Spain. I was very pleased with my work over the whole weekend and qualified for the final. Unfortunately a couple of two second penalties bumped me into 7th place.
2019 NZ OPEN
14th January - 19th January
The exciting race held at the Mangahao Power Station in Shannon was my first race of 2020 and kicked off the Oceania racing season. I managed a strong performance among tough international competition finishing in 3rd place behind Luuka Jones of NZ and Camille Prigent of France.
TOKYO OLYMPIC TEST EVENT
12th October - 2nd November
This was the first chance to get out on the recently constructed olympic course in Tokyo. This three week training camp included a test event to suss the competition and make sure everything was running smoothly at the venue. I spent time learning the water and finished up in 15th place! Im looking forward to my next camp on the course in April.
2019 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
25th - 29th September
Held in La Seu D'Urgell, just over one hour from Barcelona the World Championships doubled as Olympic Qualification! In the build up to this competition I spent 8 weeks total on the course to optimise my performance for the race. I raced to a high standard and managed to secure my place at the Olympics!!
2019 WORLD CUP SERIES
30th May - 1st September
I competed at 4 out of the 5 World Cup races travelling between London, Bratislava, Ljubljana and Prague to hone my skills prior to the World Championships.
